Baker Mayfield is playing some of the best football of his life. Not enough people are talking about it.
I know this is true because I talked about it recently and have not seen anyone else falling in line. Wake up, people. Baker Mayfield is on fire and we need to give him his flowers.
Everyone knows Baker for his personality and fiery disposition, but what they may not realize is that he has been playing like a certifiable franchise quarterback ever since taking over for Tom Brady as quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With Baker under center the Bucs haven’t missed a beat, relatively speaking, and he has individually posted back-to-back career highs as far as passing yards and touchdowns are concerned.
Consider that Tampa was able to retain Chris Godwin in free agency — granted, he is coming back from injury — and added to their wide receiver fold with Ohio State’s Emeka Egbuka. Giving Baker another weapon and dynamic to work with will surely lead to more success and, if we are lucky, more fun quotes and moments from his colorful personality.
