The United Kingdom government has revised its travel advisory on Kaduna State, moving it from the ‘Red’ list to ‘Amber’, a development that allows British citizens to travel freely to the state.
The announcement was made by Cynthia Rowe, the Development Director of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), during the signing of a new Mutual Accountability Framework (KaMAF) with the Kaduna State Government.
Rowe explained that Kaduna had remained under the “Red” category since 2022 due to security challenges but was now upgraded following noticeable improvements.
“This reclassification is recognition of the state government’s efforts to address insecurity, and it sends a positive signal to potential investors,” she said.
SWORDPRESS reports that the KaMAF pact was signed by Governor Uba Sani on behalf of Kaduna State and Rowe on behalf of the FCDO.
The agreement seeks to deepen cooperation in governance, healthcare, education, and agriculture.
Governor Sani highlighted that the partnership has already yielded tangible results, including a reduction in maternal and child mortality, expanded healthcare access, school upgrades, and teacher training.
He added that more than 10 per cent of Kaduna’s 2025 budget had been earmarked to boost crop and livestock productivity.
According to the governor, reform initiatives such as the Local Government Transparency, Accountability, and Sustainability (LG-TAS) programme, Issue-Based Projects, and Community Development Charters are being implemented to strengthen citizen engagement and governance.
Sani expressed optimism that the framework would consolidate Kaduna’s image as a state committed to resilience and inclusive growth.
“This new phase of partnership will accelerate development and further position Kaduna as an investment-friendly state,” the governor said.
